In the heart of Bristol, Rhode Island, surrounded by nature's beauty, lies the enchanting Blithewold Mansion. Originally a summer retreat for the prestigious Van Wickle family, this architectural gem reflects the splendor of the Gilded Age. Today, its expansive lawns, stunning gardens, and grand terrace create an idyllic setting for couples seeking a wedding venue that combines historic elegance with natural charm.
Recently, our team at I Do Wedding Boston had the pleasure of providing the exquisite Marigold gown by Giovanna Alessandro for a wedding photoshoot at Blithewold Mansion by an amazing photographer Erin Dubay. This shoot perfectly captured the essence of a fairytale romance set against the luxurious backdrop of the mansion. The goal was to blend elements of grandeur, sophistication, and ethereal beauty to create an unforgettable day.
The bride, glowing in her Marigold gown, embodied ethereal elegance. The fit-and-flare silhouette, adorned with delicate beadwork and flowing tulle, added a touch of refined luxury that complemented the majestic setting of Blithewold Mansion. Her look was enhanced with a loose, romantic updo by Hair, Heart & Soul, and soft, glowing makeup by Makeup Your Mind Makeup Therapy, a premier makeup artist from Rhode Island.
Completing her ensemble was an ivory cathedral-length veil and blush Emmaline sheer pumps from Bella Belle Shoes. The finishing touch was a pear-shaped diamond ring from Baxter’s Fine Jewelry, a symbol of enduring love that sparkled beautifully in the sunlight.
The groom looked dashing in his tuxedos from Aldo’s House of Formals, showcasing two looks: a classic lightweight jacket with a white and green boutonniere for the daytime, and a luxurious velvet jacket with a blush rose boutonniere for the evening. His sophisticated style matched the timeless elegance of the wedding venue.
As the sun cast a golden glow over Blithewold Mansion, the florals by Stoneblossom Floral and Event Design added a touch of romance. The bouquets, with their blend of white, green, blush, and coral hues, captured the essence of springtime beauty. The fragrant lilacs and garden roses created a delightful aroma that enchanted everyone present.
One of the standout details was the wedding invitation suite, a beautiful keepsake of the event. Each invitation featured a watercolor rendering of Blithewold Mansion as the envelope liner, crafted with handmade paper and adorned with wax seals bearing floral motifs. Every element, from the torn edges to the envelope colors, was carefully chosen to reflect the elegance and romance of the occasion.
As evening approached and the sky turned pink, Blithewold Mansion transformed into a scene from a fairytale. The combination of the mansion's grandeur, the natural beauty of the surroundings, and the couple's love created a timeless and magical moment.
This wedding shoot was not just about capturing beautiful images but celebrating the enduring power of love. Just like Blithewold Mansion, this love story will stand the test of time, intertwining with the mansion's rich legacy.
